Ikon Expands Base Pass Access and Debuts Industry-Leading Refund Policy for 2026-'27 Season

Alterra debuted a refreshed Ikon Pass on Thursday with hopes of keeping skiers on the slopes despite this year’s less-than-ideal season. The pass, which goes on sale March 12, will increase by about $70 from last year.

For adults aged 23 years and older, the  Ikon Pass, which offers unlimited skiing at 18 resorts, will be $1,349 with a renewal discount ($1,399 for new passholders), with the Ikon Base Pass starting at $949 for adults, offering unlimited skiing at 15 resorts with blackout dates. The Session Pass will start at $299.

Returning Ikon Passholders may choose a renewal perk with options including $25 monthly credits (totaling $300 a season), a $100 Backcountry.com gift certificate and membership to their Summit Club+ (worth $49), one free night at a Marriott property, up to two free gear rental days from Ski Butlers, or a $50 renewal discount, among other options.

There’s also a newly improved refund process. Skiers who purchase insurance and haven’t scanned their pass by Jan. 15, 2027, can receive 100 percent of their money back, and passes with a single scan by Jan. 15 can receive 50 percent back.

While Alterra is increasing prices by around $70, they are sweetening the deal with new perks like discounts on Ikon Pass Travel, Kiehl’s skincare, Away Luggage, AG1 supplements and powders, and Carv digital ski coaches. Passholders can continue to save on other partners such as The North Face, Smartwool, Icebreaker, JSX, POW, Gravity Haus, and more.

Also new for this season is Ikon’s partnership with ShipSkis. Passholders can save 25 percent off shipping ski bags and luggage, saving plenty of airline hassle.

The pass goes on sale on March 12 at its lowest price, and will rise until it goes off sale in December.

Here are the major bullet points:

• Price increases $70 on the Ikon Pass (last year the increase was $90) with the usual renewal discount. Price increases $40 on the Ikon Base.
• Three new Midwest resorts join with seven days on the Ikon Pass, and five days on the Ikon Base: Snowriver Mountain Resort in Michigan, Lutsen Mountains in Minnesota, and Granite Peak in Wisconsin.
• Arapahoe Basin, which Ikon Pass parent company Alterra Mountain Company purchased in 2024, is now unlimited on the Ikon Base Pass. Unlimited spring skiing begins April 6.
• Snowmass will offer five days on the Ikon Base pass (the other three Aspen resorts remain only on the full Ikon Pass). Reservations are no longer needed for any of the Aspen resorts.
• Two new resorts join the Bonus Mountains offerings—two free days with blackout dates) at Tamarack Resort, Idaho, and Devil’s Head Resort, WI
• Save $100 per child pass with the purchase of an adult Ikon Pass
• Skiers ages 23–28 can save $199 on a Base Pass when a group of five purchases five passes together.
• If you buy your 2026-’27 pass now, you get unlimited spring skiing access at 17 resorts

Friends and Family Tickets

Skiers with the full Ikon Pass still get 15 Friends and Family discount lift tickets, good for 25 percent off the window rate. Base Pass holders will recieve 10.

First Tracks 

Both Ikon Pass and Base Pass skiers still get First Tracks access for ’26-’27, where they can get on the mountain before the lifts open one morning per month in January, February, and March of 2027 at participating resorts.

Spring Access

If you didn’t purchase the current season’s Ikon Pass but want to squeeze in some spring skiing, purchase now for immediate access at up to 17 resorts starting on March 12. Note that there are now different access dates and resorts on the full Ikon vs. the Base.
